What is mentoring? Mentoring is the process of having a significant beneficial effect on the life or career of another individual, generally as a result of personal one-on-one contact. A mentor is one who offers knowledge, insight, perspective or wisdom that is especially useful to the other person. In this case, NGC will is organizing the first dinner where by women leaders will interact with recent university graduates. The program will mix and much the woman leader and a young woman by who she will become come her mentor.
What is involved? Traditionally mentoring has been used to assist young generation to adopt in adult world, it was most used in family environment situation. In this century, women are climbing the career ladder with leader perception. It is increasingly becoming necessary for women leaders to mentor next generation in order to keep the gender cup filled all the time. Mentoring usually involves a more skilled person with wide experience; to pass it on to the young or junior individual in certain field. Very often this happens through informal networks. NGC mentoring concept will take on a new dimension focusing on leadership ambitions, career direction, goal setting, role models, networking, support systems, and personal empowerment.
Who benefits from mentoring? Both parties to the mentor process benefit. Mentoring should not be a one-way process in which only mentees gains. In fact, this is the process by which mentors analyses their own importance leadership role more carefully, by helping another person. In other words, mentoring helps the mentors to bring meaning to their leadership career.
What commitment is required from me as mentor? One of the purposes of the program is to assist mentees achieve a specific objective, acquire a particular set of skills, or gain experiences that will further their leadership career advancement. At least, both mentor and mentee should commit to be in touch for the period of one year or more. This means that, through NGC or individual arrangement, the two parties should arrange have dinners together, attend internal or external conferences together, inform each other on each one career change or progress; and be creative during this process. During this period, NGC and partners will host informal meetings to provide an opportunity for participants to give feedback and progress, and share experiences with other participants and to expand the program. In addition, NGC will make all the efforts to arrange seminars, conferences, workshops both inside and outside the country; by which both parties will participate.
Will mentoring take a lot of time? After initial dinner hosted by NGC, the program will be flexible and can be designed to suit your needs. The frequency, duration and nature of the contacts between mentors and mentees should be arranged by themselves through phone email, one-on-one contact according to their own time requirements. Some individual may prefer to meet informally every two weeks; It is highly encouraged that mentors should make efforts to avail themselves as the mentees may be shy to bather with you busy schedule. Another method is kept in touch on email and telephone calls.

Awards service Banquet: Every year, NGC will honor five individuals and one organization for their unique leadership in community, political, and professional affairs and will recognize their attempts at creating a voice for the true leadership and mentorship of the Next Generation in any community. All chapters will compete to have the award go to their country or help each other to bring home the award. The banquet provides an opportunity for existing and next generation to collectively discuss the role of each generation and how they can best learn from each other. The event also honors those on the forefront of that change. The winners will be posted on our website.
Young Women's Leadership Seminar: The lack of women in positions of leadership prompted NGC to develop a workshop that would provide support, leadership, and political training for young women. The seminar introduces young women to successful women leaders and provides them with public speaking skills training, as well as participation in team building exercises, in order to strengthen their self-confidence and encourage leadership. Seminars will take place on the national, regional and international levels.
Legal Aid Project: NGC facilitates a Legal Aid Project designed to educate the community about legal and judicial reform and to provide counsel to those who need legal assistance. Beneficiaries in this project are specifically widows and widowers, orphans, juvenile offenders, victims of abuse poor, elderly, and the disabled. This is a very important project since people in this category are not aware of their rights and not well informed about changes in the law or where to turn for legal assistance. NGC will work closely to support organizations that provide legal information to the public and will prepare legal resource information packets for these individuals. NCG will also develop a network of domestic lawyers who provide pro bono legal assistance.
Advocacy: Planned NGC events include meetings with Senators and MPs, president’s office officials, roundtable discussions with politically active citizens, tours for expatriates of the main government offices, including the president’s office and the tour of United Nation agencies. These trips are aimed at helping these Next Generation Youngsters improve their knowledge of the political process, history, and their own community and will encourage their future involvement and activism for positive change and learning from their peers.
Speakers Series: The Emerging Leaders Speakers Series hosts current community leaders as they share their experiences. Past discussion topics have included women and youth in recent elections for local government, how to become more politically active, learning how to run for office, and the political participation of youth and women. Guest panelists who have led past discussions have included university professors, government officials, and community leaders. Discussion groups have been conducted for high school students, college students, young professionals, and other community members.
Day of Service: In order to support and recognize the community work that other nonprofit organizations and individuals engage in, NGC is planning a Day of Service to encourage its members/beneficiaries and the community at large to reserve at least one day in a year to give time back to community causes and to help needy women and children. Efforts will be made to benefit children-headed households and needy genocide survivors who need services such as building shelters, basic medical care, counseling services, legal aid etc.
