Background
Next Generation Connect (NGC) was established in July 2005 as National, Regional and International non-governmental, non-profit organization based in Kigali, Rwanda with chapters in different countries. Founded by Justine Rukeba Mbabazi, an inspiring 21 Century woman leader, NGC’s vision is to empower the generation already in the leadership and to connect the next generation – especially women and youth – through experience sharing to influence positive change in the world. NGC is dedicated to shaping the existing and incoming generation by connecting people, exchanging expertise, and promoting advocacy on issues emerging in the 21st Century throughout the world. Using this approach, NGC’s primary focus is to build a well-educated, skilled, diverse and unified community of women and youth who value experience sharing in the promotion of their political and social development. NGC’s mission statement expresses its commitment to enhance leadership, promoting capacity building, advocating and protecting human rights and needs, particularly those affecting women and youth. It is the organization’s belief that for a positive change, we need to invest in the “Next Generation” by equipping them with the proper tools of leadership and problem solving skills. The next generation’s well-being and access to comprehensive and contemporary information and experience sharing on global political and leadership issues is the only direct route to positive change in this century.
NGC Objectives:
• To enhance the high quality of skills necessary for Rwanda’s women and youth leaders
• To promote capacity building through education and training, working toward the global promotion and advancement of women and youth
• To support and facilitate advocacy on emerging issues of the 21st Century through local, national, and international experience sharing
• To empower, support and facilitate research and documentation, particularly in the areas of social, economical, justice, gender, development issues, and to disseminate the knowledge gained from this research and educate the public as to the needs for and benefits of implementation of the outcomes
